These are our recommended steps to install HIT Inserts* using Black Fusion (Rubber Toughened Cyanoacrylate Adhesive). After significant research, we found Black Fusion to be a superior adhesive for this application when using Iron Will RIP TKO Elite V1 and all Victory Archery arrows and we do not recommend using alternative kinds of adhesive.
You Will Need:
Iron Will HIT Inserts
HIT Insert Tool
Victory Black Fusion
Acetone
Q-Tips
Rag
Steps:
1.) Clean your HIT Inserts in acetone.
2.) Pull the nocks off of the arrows.
3.) SIZE CHECK: Do not skip this step. Check the fit of the HIT insert inside the arrow shaft to be sure that it moves freely in and out. It should be a close fit but not a press fit.
4.) Use the properly sized HIT Insert Tool to score the bore. Push the brush slowly into the arrow shaft and seat it all the way in. Rotate the tool to roughen up the inside of the arrow shaft. Once you have scored the bore, unscrew the brush from the back of the tool. Clean the inside of the shaft using acetone. Use a dry Q-Tip to completely dry the inside of the arrow shaft. Sit the arrows aside for 15 minutes to make sure there is no acetone left inside.
5.) Bond the HIT Insert into the shaft using the HIT Insert Tool to the proper depth.
- Coat the back 3/4 of the HIT Insert all the way around with the adhesive, making sure to fill the grooves on the HIT Insert with adhesive.
- Using the HIT Insert Installation Tool, push the insert into the arrow all the way in one movement. Caution: do not start the insert into the arrow with your fingers then finish it with the tool, as the adhesive bonds very quickly and your insert could get stuck before you can finish seating it at the proper depth.
- Once seated at the tool's max depth, bring the tool back out and quickly use a rag to wipe away any excess adhesive off the end of the arrow.
- Use acetone to wipe off any excess adhesive from the HIT Installation Tool so it's ready for the next arrow.
7.) IMPORTANT: This is an instant bond type of adhesive but we recommend letting your arrows sit in a horizontal position for 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure before shooting them.
After 24 hours, your arrows are ready for flight.
