Behind the Design

— K3 ULTRALIGHT BONING & FILLET KNIFE —

Engineered in collaboration with expert hunting outfitters, the K3 Ultralight Boning and Fillet Knife features a razor-sharp, ultra-thin five-inch blade built for effortless precision from the backcountry to the skinning shed. In this video, we’ll take you behind the scenes of its design, testing, and development.

When it came to designing the K3 Ultralight Boning and Fillet Knife, no other product received more testing, refinement, or field time. The goal was simple: build the best lightweight boning knife for hunters and backcountry adventurers — a knife that’s razor sharp, durable, and perfectly balanced for both boning and filleting in the field.

Built Through Years of Testing and Field Experience
Before finalizing the K3, extensive testing was done with boning knives of every shape and size — shorter and longer blades, straight and curved spines, varied edge angles, and different thicknesses behind the edge. After countless prototypes, the final design checked every box a serious hunter demands.

The K3 Ultralight Boning Knife features:
- A 5-inch blade with a slight curvature for controlled, precise cutting.
- A 15-degree bevel per side, making it exceptionally sharp and effortless to maintain.
- A thin 0.016-inch edge for smooth, low-resistance slicing and easy resharpening in the field.

Field-Tested by Expert Hunters
Working with seasoned hunting outfitters, we confirmed that a 5-inch blade is the perfect all-around size — equally capable of fine skinning work for trophy mounts and heavy processing duties at deer camp.

At only 1.8 ounces, the K3 is incredibly lightweight, making it ideal for backcountry hunts, fly-in fishing trips, or any adventure where every ounce counts.

Superior Steel for Real-World Toughness
Crafted from A2 Tool Steel — the same material used in our premium broadheads — the K3 is cryogenically treated and triple tempered for maximum performance. With a Rockwell hardness of 60C, it offers a rare balance of sharpness retention and toughness. Unlike stainless steel, A2 allows the blade to flex without snapping, making it excellent for filleting fish or working around bone while processing big game.

Corrosion-Resistant Options
The K3 is available in natural steel or a black ceramic coating for added corrosion resistance. Both finishes maintain the blade’s sleek profile and lightweight feel, ensuring dependable performance no matter the conditions.

Why Hunters Love the K3
From cutting meat off the scapula to slicing backstraps or filleting fresh fish, the K3’s sweeping edge glides through each cut with minimal effort. It’s the perfect ultralight hunting knife for serious outdoorsmen who demand precision, strength, and simplicity in one tool.
